Haley Plass is completing research on the correlation between aerosols emitted from harmful algal blooms and poor air quality, as well as the potential resulting health effects. She was recognized with an Impact Award earlier this year for her work to understand how this issue could affect North Carolina communities. Plass is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Environmental Sciences and Engineering, housed within the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health.
