What career path is really right for me?
Doctoral students have many options to explore. Heading into its second year, the Richard Bland Fellowship Professional Pathways Program facilitates experiential learning in non-faculty career options.
The Graduate School will host an information session from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Oct. 23 at Gerrard Hall. On that day, students who received the inaugural Bland Fellowships and their professional mentors will provide information and answer questions to help doctoral students understand their full range of career choices and the skills necessary for non-faculty careers.
Doctoral students who apply for the Bland Fellowships must identify a summer internship opportunity and a willing professional mentor to enable them to explore a specific non-faculty career path. In collaboration with this mentor, the student must create and propose a relevant, hands-on internship of at least 200 hours designed to achieve their specific goals for career exploration and experience. Fellowship funding of $4,000 for the summer will provide a living stipend and enable the graduate student to engage exclusively in this unique learning internship for the summer.
The Graduate School will also hold informational workshops later in the fall semester.
