Beth Mayer-Davis, the Cary C. Boshamer Distinguished Professor of Nutrition and Medicine, chair of the Department of Nutrition and the director of the UNC Nutrition Obesity Research Center, has been named dean of The Graduate School, effective Sept. 1.

Suzanne Barbour, who became dean of The Graduate School in 2019, plans to step down at the end of August.
Michelle Dromgold-Sermen is a Ph.D. candidate within the Department of Sociology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s College of Arts and Sciences. Dromgold-Sermen has been awarded the Peggy Totten Harpold Summer Research Fellowship.
