Every two weeks, The Graduate School asks faculty at UNC-Chapel Hill about what they wish they had known in graduate school. Our inaugural feature is Marisa Marraccini, assistant professor of school psychology at the UNC School of Education.
Professors view students holistically: We are excited about students’ strengths AND their areas of growth (that’s why we accept them into graduate programs). So it’s ok to stumble while learning, and it’s awesome that your peers know more than you in some areas, because that means they can help you and you can help them. You are here because we value your contribution and want to help you learn and grow, not only from your professors, but also from your peers and your experiences.
